The Styling Librarian

In my opinion, books are the best accessory.

Styling Librarian #WhateverWednesday People First Language

Today’s focus: People First Language  – It is fun to reflect on one thing each week that really catches my attention, entertains me, and is special enough I just have to share it with the world.

As an educator, I just really appreciate this video. I love the statement: “I am not my disability.”
What a celebration of each individual, as it should be.
My school district shared this with the Special Education department at an inservice meeting, grateful that a colleague shared it… thanks Pam!
I’m so grateful that my career still keeps me in close connection with all children, including those with disabilities. I went into education to teach special education initially and then switched over to library…
Explanation about this video:
People-First Language is a video about how you talk about someone with a disability.
This is an educational video that needs to be shared for the benefit of the world! Spread the word.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Thank you again to “Eat the Book” for the Whatever Wednesday meme: David Etkin’s words: “Whatever Wednesday — a chance to post something I’ve seen that I’m diggin’. A cool quote or poster, a picture, student work, a video—you know, WhateverEnjoy!… and consider posting your own Whatever.”
