The Styling Librarian

In my opinion, books are the best accessory.

Styling Librarian Saturday Book Share Grounded: The Adventures of Rapunzel

”Pull up a chair, it’s a Saturday Book Share”.

Here’s to celebrating books that strike my fancy every week!

Tyme #1:  Grounded: The Adventures of Rapunzel by Megan Morrison – Fantasy – 4th grade and up – Really appreciated this strong female fairy tale character.

Book Talk: Be prepared, this Rapunzel is an innocent girl kept in a happy world and she loves Witch who keeps her “safe” in her tower. Rapunzel changes her life when she angrily follows after a thief named Jack climbed into her room… what happens when she lands on the ground? Read to find out!

My thoughts about the book: I wasn’t so sure about this book for the first chapter, or the second but then I saw how the story was being set up and changed my tune, I loved the characters, development, learning, and the fantasy world that Megan Morrison created. Many fantasy readers will enjoy this book and get quite involved in all the adventures. Partner this book with the Hale graphic novel Rapunzel’s Revenge and students will love both!

Goodreads Summary: “In all of Tyme, from the Redlands to the Grey, no one is as lucky as Rapunzel. She lives in a magic tower that obeys her every wish; she reads wonderful books starring herself as the heroine; her hair is the longest, most glorious thing in the world. And she knows this because Witch tells her so—her beloved Witch, who protects her from evil princes, the dangerous ground under the tower, even unhappy thoughts. Rapunzel can’t imagine any other life.
Then a thief named Jack climbs into her room to steal one of her enchanted roses. He’s the first person Rapunzel’s ever met who isn’t completely charmed by her (well, the first person she’s met at all, really), and he is infuriating– especially when he hints that Witch isn’t telling her the whole truth. Driven by anger at Jack and her own nameless fears, Rapunzel descends to the ground for the first time, and finds a world filled with more peril than Witch promised … and more beauty, wonder, and adventure than she could have dreamed.”

About Pull up a chair, it’s a Saturday Book Share: I’ve had many books I review that I just want to feature. Simple and easy, celebrate a new book encounter. So that’s what Saturday Book Share is about for me, celebrating books! Perhaps some days I’ll share the book with a short reading of a portion. Or perhaps other days I’ll just share a glimpse of the book.
