The Styling Librarian

In my opinion, books are the best accessory.

Styling Librarian Special Focus: Ree Drummond Books!

Ree Drummond Happy Focus – My sister and I both have a slight obsession about Ree Drummond’s work. I don’t get to often watch her show since I don’t get the Cooking Channel in Hong Kong, so while we were visiting the US, my sister put on a special episode that had me drooling. Normally I subscribe to Ree’s blog and enjoy what she shares there… BUT it was so fun to read her children’s books!

Charlie the Ranch Dog- Where’s the Bacon? By Ree Drummond and Diane deGroat – Awww, poor Charlie, cares about others but is pushed to his limit. Just loved reading this one. Goodreads Summary: “Everyone on the ranch knows that Charlie is the boss. But when a visitor comes to stay with Charlie’s family, Charlie isn’t so sure that the new guy knows the rules. In fact, Rowdy the dog doesn’t seem to be a very nice guest. After eating Charlie’s bacon, drinking Charlie’s water, and sleeping in Charlie’s bed, Rowdy is in the doghouse! Can Charlie find a way to keep Rowdy in line . . . or at least find some more bacon?”

Charlie and the Christmas Kitty – By Ree Drummond and Diane deGroat – Charlie is thrown when a kitten is added to the family on Christmas. He thinks at first it is a rabbit. Quite cute expressions by Diane deGroat. Goodreads Summary: “Why is there a great big tree in the house?!?
And why are all these boxes underneath it?
Hey—what is that?!? Where did it come from?
Uh-oh. This isn’t good. . . . This isn’t good at all!”

Charlie Goes to School – By Ree Drummond and Diane deGroat – Here’s a book which introduces homeschooling, fabulous! This was needed. There’s many who don’t understand what homeschooling is all about! Mmm, delicious recipe at the end of the book! Goodreads Summary: “Charlie is a genius napper, an expert cattle wrangler, and the best bacon eater around! His skills are top-notch, and he’s ready to share what he knows with his ranch friends. Mama and the kids are busy with their lessons, so Charlie helps out by creating a school of his own. Suzie, Kitty, and Walter have a LOT to learn, and there’s no one better to instruct them than the King of the Ranch! Class is in session, but Charlie’s students are acting like a animals. Will Charlie be able to teach his friends anything?”

Charlie the Ranch Dog by Ree Drummond and Diane deGroat – Love that this book can be watched/read aloud on!
Charlie is the cutest dog who appreciates others and enjoys life on the ranch, even with all his responsibilities- even sniffing the porch steps is an important job! Especially love the extra stories shared through the illustrations by Diane deGroat. Love the life of a ranch dog out and about all day…
Goodreads Summary: “Meet Charlie. He’s a ranch dog. Breakfast is his life, especially when bacon is involved. Charlie has dangly ears, floppy skin, and big fat paws. And he loves living in the country. That’s because he works like a dog…fixing fences, gardening, and helping his family out on the range.
Yep, it’s all work, all the time for Charlie the ranch dog. In fact, he’s probably working right now… Zzzzzzz…. A ranch dog’s work is never done!”

Plus I snuck in a cookbook too…

The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food From My Frontier – By Ree Drummond – drooled through the recipes in this book but barely could use any of them with my new restricted diet… love her directions either online or in the book, she makes cooking easy and approachable… Ok, the Hummus recipe sounds terrific and the stuffed mushrooms look delicious if I avoid the cheese, and thepanfried spinach and kale look delicious. Goodreads Summary: “I’m Pioneer Woman. And I love to cook. Once upon a time, I fell in love with a cowboy. A strapping, rugged, chaps-wearing cowboy. Then I married him, moved to his ranch, had his babies . . . and wound up loving it. Except the manure. Living in the country for more than fifteen years has taught me a handful of eternal truths: every new day is a blessing, every drop of rain is a gift . . . and nothing tastes more delicious than food you cook yourself.
The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier is a mouthwatering collection of the simple-but-scrumptious recipes that rotate through my kitchen on a regular basis, including Perfect Pancakes, Cowgirl Quiche, Sloppy Joes, Italian Meatball Soup, White Chicken Enchiladas, and a spicy Carnitas Pizza that’ll win you over for life. There are also some elegant offerings for more special occasions at your house: Osso Buco, Honey-Plum-Soy Chicken, and Rib-Eye Steak with an irresistible Onion-Blue Cheese Sauce. And the decadent assortment of desserts, including Blackberry Chip Ice Cream, Apple Dumplings, and Coffee Cream Cake, will make your heart go pitter-pat in the most wonderful way.”

*I also enjoyed the audiobook of her memoir The Pioneer Woman: Black Heels to Tractor Wheels a while ago. Fantastic read that made mechuckle often… Goodreads Summary: “”New York Times”-bestselling author and accidental ranch wife Drummond sharesher real-life storybook romance, set on a historic Oklahoma cattle ranch.”
