The Styling Librarian

In my opinion, books are the best accessory.

Styling Librarian #WhateverWednesday Hagar International

Today’s focus: Hagar International – It is fun to reflect on one thing each week that really catches my attention, entertains me, and is special enough I just have to share it with the world.

Here’s my Whatever Wednesday Randomness:

I recently sat through a presentation that was so inspirational I knew I wanted to share about this right away…

I learned about the talented photographer Michael Sloyer who is releasing a book and collection of photographs called Life Living Life.
He is releasing this book as a fundraiser in connection with a pretty impressive organization, Hagar International, that’s been operating for 20 years.
“Hagar works with survivors of modern-day slavery and extreme human rights abuse. We do whatever it takes, for as long as it takes, to restore a broken life.” – they often commit to helping survivors for over two years and provide counselors and job training and more. I’m so overwhelmed learning about this organization. They operate in Cambodia, Vietnam, and Afghanistan. Their website provides plenty of information. There’s a bit of a religious approach for this organization.

Two inspiring actions combined in a fundraiser- for my Hong Kong friends, there is a gallery opening and celebration of this book release this Thursday, see more here:

Others, here’s a glimpse of Michael Sloyer‘s talent.
Besides his website there’s an article sharing more of his photographs at Huffington Post:

Here’s more information about Hagar International:

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Thank you again to “Eat the Book” for the Whatever Wednesday meme: David Etkin’s words: “Whatever Wednesday — a chance to post something I’ve seen that I’m diggin’. A cool quote or poster, a picture, student work, a video—you know, WhateverEnjoy!… and consider posting your own Whatever.”
