In my opinion, books are the best accessory.
Here’s my Whatever Wednesday Randomness:
I sat and thought about actions recently. I’ve been quite contemplative about this since my Y6 students are just beginning their Exhibition research… their focus is on World Awareness and a later unit will be about economics and how choices impact ourselves and the world.
So… I found an interesting article titled:
6 Things You Should Know About Your Clothes (and why you should care) and it was fascinating to think about, a little disconcerting, and slightly worrisome as well. Good read that I recommend. I decided to explore the author a little further since she shared interesting points: http://shannonwhitehead.com/ – interesting career as a sustainable apparel consultant. Looks like she is well versed in crowdfunding in addition to being an apparel consultant.
I’m concerned now after reading the article I mentioned above about the chemicals in my clothes- especially the ones I purchase in the cool markets I’ve visited around Hong Kong, the fact that I’m probably supporting poor treatment of employees/children, and that I haven’t found more areas for fair trade clothing options. Thought I’d share since it is something important/on my mind still. I already posted about fair trade here:
Here are a few powerful videos on Fair Trade: (I also collect information on Supply/Demand, Fair Trade and teaching resources for my Year 6 students and teachers here: https://www.smore.com/fgz4 )

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!
Thank you again to “Eat the Book” for the Whatever Wednesday meme: http://mretome.wordpress.com David Etkin’s words: “Whatever Wednesday — a chance to post something I’ve seen that I’m diggin’. A cool quote or poster, a picture, student work, a video—you know, Whatever. Enjoy!… and consider posting your own Whatever.”
