Styling Librarian Y2 Wk34 China Adventure Guangzhou Day 2

Are you ready for another adventure with us? We did a “typical” adventure to Chimelong today. Not everyone’s version of typical though. We hopped on a subway in the morning early to get to the amusement park (Chimelong Paradise) before the huge crowds came in. It was a slightly foggy day but not terrible, warmed up over the day which turned out to be perfect. Not too hot- not too cold. Some adventures in Chimelong in the past we were dripping from the humidity!

Scary place, but not really, loads of special effects.

Forest Temple: Scary place, but not really, loads of special effects.

We agreed to try out someplace new in Chimelong Paradise, quick walk through and not as scary as we expected, but entertaining… Forest Temple- witches, goblins, dragons, the devil, and a water wall were part of the adventure.

Bumper cars were #1.

We visited a few key places around Chimelong Paradise including bumper cars, 4D Theater show of Green Lantern, and a few roller coasters and then headed over to another area of Chimelong: Chimelong Safari.

We wandered around for a little while and enjoyed visiting different areas. Since it is now The Year of the Horse, there was a special Horse featured area. Nice to see them.

Beautiful and mellow.

For me, I’m not too fond of any place that has animals in cages. Honestly, I prefer visiting animals in their local habitat without disturbing them. For example, I loved visiting the pink dolphins with – Hong Kong Dolphinwatch. They advocate, educate, and bring you to see dolphins in their habitat, if the dolphins are actually around.

These creatures are so beautiful. And SOFT.

Unfortunately, Chimelong doesn’t have large areas for their animals. Often in different exhibits I was simply heartbroken. The commercialism overwhelmed me but this is a special family adventure that we’ve paid a year’s membership for so we’ll enjoy while it is covered.

Ok, back to adventures: next we visited lions and tigers and bears, oh my! This included pandas, a petting area for tigers which was my son’s favorite part of the trip. Once we finished visiting that area, we zipped over to visit the koala exhibit area and enjoyed visiting them as well. It is an odd situation to have the opportunity to touch a wild animal.

Finally, we called this one exhausting, fun, special day and headed back towards the hotel and wandered through another area of Guangzhou to find a restaurant my husband found great reviews of online: 13 Factories. YUM. This was my FAVORITE restaurant I’ve visited in a long time. We were so thrilled to find a place with amazing cajun food, delicious desserts and great ambiance.
Shall share more in another post, til then, happy adventures to you and yours!

I bet that tiger feeding was … a little disconcerting. I read Mr. Tiger Goes Wild with a couple classes today and we also read a non-fic. I was reminded of how much we’ve affected wild animals. Only 7500 (and that was the high estimate) tigers left in the wild.
Anyway. A fun family day! Isn’t that what it’s all about?
