The Styling Librarian

In my opinion, books are the best accessory.

Styling Librarian Review: Sparky!

sparkySparky by Jenny Offill & Chris Appelhans – 3/11 released – A SLOTH! FOR A PET! Isn’t this sloth just perfect? Love the illustrations, brilliant, touching, beautiful. Plus hooray to a school librarian inquiry! What is a pet that you don’t need to walk, wash, or feed? A sloth! What do you do if your new pet won’t fetch, roll over, or speak? You adapt and appreciate. Special little imaginative book with brilliant illustrations that quickly express feelings and changes the little girl goes through. I also appreciated how the girl knows that her human friend isn’t the most fantastic person to be around but she still tries to be a friend and fulfill expectations, even if it isn’t the greatest idea. I look forward to hearing what others think about this book!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE 17 Things I’m Not Allowed to Do Anymore!!! Pretty special story as well.

Goodreads Summary: “The ingenious author of 17 Things I’m Not Allowed to Do Anymore and a brilliant illustrator and production designer of the Coraline movie have created a hilarious, touching picture book perfect for young animal lovers. Like the Caldecott Medal-winning Officer Buckle and Gloria, Sparky stars a pet who has more to offer than meets the eye. When our narrator orders a sloth through the mail, the creature that arrives isn’t good at tricks or hide-and-seek . . . or much of anything. Still, there’s something about Sparky that is irresistible.”
