The Styling Librarian

In my opinion, books are the best accessory.

Styling Librarian #WhateverWednesday Brain Fun

Today’s focus: Brain Fun – It is fun to reflect on one thing each week that really catches my attention, entertains me, and is special enough I just have to share it with the world.

Here’s my Whatever Wednesday Randomness:

I shifted back to one of my favorite topics recently: the brain. This is thanks to the brilliant book- Wake Up Missing by Kate Messner. Kate brought up the impact of concussions on a human and the dire consequences that sometimes can impact a person after getting a concussion… Highly recommend this book.

In any case, after I thought about this book, I came across a video that was shared a few times, originated with TEDPartners, The Distracted Mind:

I mentioned before how much I like the book by Oliver Sacks called The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat. So then I was curious to see if there was a film that interpreted the book since there was a movie Awakenings… and voila! Here’s a glimpse of the wild experience that Oliver Sacks has when interviewing a patient:

So brains… we must appreciate what they can handle! I certainly appreciate my own life and brain after reading books like this, watching films like this…

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Thank you again to “Eat the Book” for the Whatever Wednesday meme: http://mretome.wordpress.com David Etkin’s words: “Whatever Wednesday — a chance to post something I’ve seen that I’m diggin’. A cool quote or poster, a picture, student work, a video—you know, WhateverEnjoy!… and consider posting your own Whatever.”

If you enjoyed this post, please consider following my blog through email updates – (do so to the right of this blog post), my Facebook page, comment, or meet up with me on Twitter. I appreciate all of the support, makes my day! Honored by all the wonderful followers.

Not sure if you are still knitting in HK, but, in case you are, you might consider this brainy enhancement:

Oh my goodness gracious, LOVE IT! 🙂 I haven’t done knitting in a while sadly. My shoulders/wrists were off for a while and then I gave away all my UFO’s, etc. when we moved… BUT I DID find a knitting store recently, closed at the time, looking forward to visiting soon! 🙂
