In my opinion, books are the best accessory.
”Pull up a chair, it’s a Saturday Book Share”.
I chose to feature a new book that I’ve read numerous reviews of: Little Red Writing by Joan Holub, illustrated by Melissa Sweet – really enjoyed reading this writing process mixed with the fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood. I think this is a perfect book to use for a discussion about author purpose and also discussing the writing process with children. I have a Y1 team that is going to teach a unit about telling stories this spring and I cannot wait to pass this along to them, a perfect fit.
Goodreads Summary: “Acclaimed writer Joan Holub and Caldecott Honoree Melissa Sweet team up in this hilarious and exuberant retelling of Little Red Riding Hood, in which a brave, little red pencil finds her way through the many perils of writing a story, faces a ravenous pencil sharpener (the Wolf 3000)… and saves the day.”
About Pull up a chair, it’s a Saturday Book Share: I’ve had many books I review that I just want to feature. Simple and easy, celebrate a new book encounter. So that’s what Saturday Book Share is about for me, celebrating books! Perhaps some days I’ll share the book with a short reading of a portion. Or perhaps other days I’ll just share a glimpse of the book.
