In my opinion, books are the best accessory.
Thanks to Twitter Friends for creating a delicious meme- Treat Tuesday.

I’ll go with a book and a treat.
Think Fair Trade First! by Ingrid Hess – My wonderful PYP Coordinator at my school picked up this book at a conference. I appreciate how this book was created by a person who is quite passionate about fair trade business. I also appreciate how you can read this book a few ways, you can simply read the story about Stella and Henry going with their aunt to purchase a birthday present for their mom at a fair trade store, read about the elements of fair trade and why it is important for our society to support efforts around the world, or read both portions of the book simultaneously.
Year 6 students at my school study about Supply and Demand and explore various elements of trade around the world. One element the students explore and discuss is fair trade. This is the perfect book for that unit of inquiry. Here’s what I’ve collected for my teachers and students as an online resource organizer: https://www.smore.com/fgz4
Goodreads Summary: “Stella and Henry are searching for the perfect birthday gift for their mother. With the help of Aunt Mabel, the two children discover the world of Fair Trade and learn about how shopping wisely can help improve many people’s lives around the world.”
*Sadly ironic, my chocolate in this picture are both no fair trade. I always do look for the fair trade symbol but when not available I do enjoy what I can find… For my Hong Kong friends, there is a Fair Trade Hong Kong Foundation! http://www.fairtradehk.org/?lang=en
