The Styling Librarian

In my opinion, books are the best accessory.

Today’s focus: The Independent Bookstore: I appreciate my twitter and Facebook friend David Etkin’s  (@davidaetkin ) Whatever Wednesday meme. It is fun to reflect on one thing each week that really catches my attention, entertains me, and is special enough I just have to share it with the world.

Here’s my Whatever Wednesday Randomness:

I am a huge fan of the Independent Bookstore. If I could go on a roadtrip and visit Independent Bookstores around the US, I’d be quite a happy one… There are certainly ones that I’ve been eager to visit, especially the ones that have a focus on children’s literature!

So, I watched this video and couldn’t stop… there were so many quality quotes during the video about reading and bookstores… there were fascinating topics throughout. And one of my absolutely favorite bookstores is featured! (Powells Books). — not sure why my Vimeo embed is failing! So then… I had fun exploring a few other videos connected with bookstores. Inspiration, never know where it will lead me!

My “feel better comfort movie”… favorite clips are of course in the independent bookstore…

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Thank you again to “Eat the Book” for the Whatever Wednesday meme: http://mretome.wordpress.com David Etkin’s words: “Whatever Wednesday — a chance to post something I’ve seen that I’m diggin’. A cool quote or poster, a picture, student work, a video—you know, WhateverEnjoy!… and consider posting your own Whatever.”

If you enjoyed this post, please consider following my blog through email updates – (do so to the right of this blog post), my Facebook page, comment, or meet up with me on Twitter. I appreciate all of the support, makes my day! Honored by all the wonderful followers.

Your post appeared just as my publisher sent an email to authors/illustrators asking us to support our indies by hand-selling our books in their stores on Nov. 30 — a special grassroots movement started by Sherman Alexie: http://www.bookweb.org/indies-first. HK authors/illustrators can do the same 🙂
