In my opinion, books are the best accessory.
Travelling has provided our family with a variety of experiences this summer. My husband squeezed in a special anniversary trip for us to Guangzhou, China. We were celebrating our 13th anniversary on August 13th. When we chatted with Lenore Look about this, she pointed out that we were quite lucky because this year the Chinese Valentine’s Day falls on August 13th. We were thrilled with this news. We do love the number 13…
We coordinated a visit to Mayland Resort in Guangzhou, http://www.maylandresort.com/english/ – it was a lovely location that was one of the best places I’ve ever experienced for relaxation. There were many options for things to do at the resort, but honestly, relaxing and trying out the different jacuzzis was all we did. The resort was actually celebrating the day and gave out roses and fruit treats on that day. There were barely any people who could understand English at the resort, but we were able to enjoy our time without any issues.
Guangzhou was an interesting area to visit. The area we visited took a train trip from Hong Kong, just a few hours, a few subway train rides, and then a 1 1/2 hour bus ride to the resort. While we travelled there, we saw a mix of city life, poverty, areas of expansion and construction, and then an insular, gorgeously developed resort. The resort was enormous with golf courses, three swimming pools, huge hotel, and a developing enormous neighborhood community.
Dinner the second night included special karaoke renditions of Sting, The Beatles, Sting, Madonna, and more, quite amusing… Not bad to listen to, great effort on English words.
Wandering around the resort, we were astounded by the beautiful, peaceful set up. There were over 15 different hot springs, called thermal swimming pools and baths by the resort. I personally loved the small baths that were set up with different scents and also the indoor swimming pools that you could settle and enjoy the different jacuzzi areas.
The hotel room was quite large and another peaceful, relaxing area… really appreciated the care that was put into the design of every bit of the resort, really can tell the quality of everything…
I never followed through on this sign that was next to the bed. Would have been a fun option. Have never seen the option to choose specialty pillows at other hotels!
A few more glimpses of the hotel…
Happy reading and adventures your way everyone!
