Styling Librarian Hong Kong Update Week 50 Macau Special Edition

50 Weeks of living in Hong Kong! It has honestly flown by.
This has been a busy week, here’s my quick reflection:
This past weekend was the first one where we were off from school, so we joined another family and went to visit Macau – leaving husband behind to finish up a TOEFL (Teacher Of English as a Foreign Language) course. We enjoyed the sights, relaxation, and especially the food when we visited Macau.
It was entertaining and fun to visit one casino and learn how popular and lucrative gambling is, amazing how many stores lined every location.
Swimming time back at the hotel and then off to another restaurant… enjoyed the Mexican restaurant we discovered, pretty delicious meal.

I had a little time to myself to visit another casino, this time I went to the Venetian, quite the enormous place. I was overwhelmed at first and then impressed with a gondola ride set up in the middle of the place… see the pictures below to visualize it yourself!

Enjoyed another tour… this time, we took the bus to Old Town Macau, loved seeing the ruins:

h2oD42ndFinal bit:  So, when we went to Macau, we learned that my kiddo needs some motion sickness medicine for the 45 minute speed boat ride, poor thing didn’t do well on the way there- with medicine, did fine on the way back! While in Macau, I didn’t appreciate the mosquitoes. I know I’ve posted before about having a talent for attracting mosquitoes- this weekend was no different, I counted 25 bites after a few days relaxing by the pool, and that is WITH mosquito repellent. Goodness knows where I’d be without it. I did check in with the doctor who gave me a stronger allergy medicine that helped me not feel like a human itchball. I also visited a local pharmacy that seems to have everything I could possibly want, really grateful to know where to go when I need a prescription or basic medicine.

During the week we dealt with renewal of visas and wandering around Wan Chai. It was mostly peaceful. It was a hot week, so didn’t do too much beyond one exploration per day. I personally was in awe walking around an art gallery, Chinese Arts & Crafts with a special showing of the Organic Masterpieces Exhibition… gorgeous pieces, unfortunately, I was not able to take pictures as I toured, what you see are the pieces in the front entries that I was allowed to photograph.

Watched a celebration of a new restaurant opening up near our apartment, never tire of these festivities:

The Venetian there looks exactly like the one in Vegas! Must be owned by the same company. As usual, enjoyed reading your adventures. 🙂

HAH!!! I have NEVER been to Vegas! I laughed about that the whole time in Macau- had to travel to another continent to experience casinos there were only a few hours away. I did visit one casino with my husband when we got married on the way back from our honeymoon… but we were only there for 2 hours, does that count? How funny it looks the same. 🙂 Thanks for keeping up with me Ruth!! So grateful for online connections…
