In my opinion, books are the best accessory.
Hello all! So, this past week was a blur, I admit it. First, we welcomed our school staff to celebrate new books added to our library collection with a new book breakfast Monday morning.
Then later in the week we took time to put up window signage with my principal and my husband who was wonderful, patient, and a careful placer of the words. Did you know you could get a level app on your iPhone? Useful tool! We shall see how well the letters have adhered to the windows. I’m happy with the results, but curious to see the impact of Hong Kong’s humidity!
Also, there was teaching loads of classes including discussions with my Year 6 (Fifth graders) about bullying using Trudy Ludwig’s book My Secret Bully — going to continue this coming week with Confessions of a Former Bully. I also came across another new book by Patricia Polacco – Bully which dealt with cyberbullying along with bullying. Pretty serious one but great to pass on to students who want to read more.
Even though the new book breakfast was over, we still are cataloging books. My focus this week was on graphic novels. We already added in numerous new graphic novels, but have loads to go. So, I took a quick video after getting some done.
There was a wonderful night market and Thanksgiving dinner to go to at the end of the week and a literary festival on Saturday that I missed but my husband and son enjoyed. Watched The Life of Pi on Saturday, what a gorgeous feast for the eyes and thoughts for the mind to spin around with that movie. I’m not done listening to the audiobook. Not sure how I feel about already seeing the movie adaptation, shall see! Not much exploring, more reading on my end for this week. Being sick can make you hunker down, ignore technology, and just get lost in books.
Have a lovely week everyone. Thanks so much for the follows!
